[Fixed] Metro apps crash silently in Window 8 consumer preview.
The upgrade process went remarkably smoothly and I am liking both sides of the new OS so far (one caveat: I still haven't got the trackpad running on my MacBookAir; everything is working on my Dell XPS).
I had an issue with all the Metro apps which would fire up their splash screen and then quit back to the start screen with no visible error. There was a DCOM error log which led me to http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itprogeneral/thread/b0e4f9a3-4c96-4e6f-9399-71fc5813853c
The JohnFernandes registry fix in that thread seemed to help, in that I could open the store.
After that, I needed to install the various start screen apps from the store and then they worked as expected (the very few that are available in Hong Kong at present).
