Shirky on paywalls. Prior to reading the article, I had thought that paywalls, even leaky ones, were generally working OK, much against my expectations. I guess I shouldn't necessarily believe what I read in the papers…
My questions from a first read: how will news organisations reward their key / core users? How will news organisations deal with an increasingly opinionated / political paying readership?
I pay for my newspaper in electronic form, simply because SCMP has a neat "weekend hard copy and weekday electronic" model which works for us very well.
