I’m not sure I needed the human colour of highly-paid executives weeping at injustice, but there are some interesting ideas in Behind corporate walls, the masters of the universe weep.
We as workers can shift what work is for us. The suggested themes are good:
- Become serial masters rather than shallow generalists (not so good for me)
- Become innovative connectors rather than isolated competitors (definitely good for me)
- Become impassioned producers rather than consumers (also good for me)
Finally the question that helps frame the issue is spot on:
“Just ask yourself,†he wrote, “if you were to walk into any corporation, would you find faces brimming over with deep fulfillment and authentic delight – or stonily asking themselves, ‘If it wasn’t for the accursed paycheck, would I really imprison myself in this dungeon of the human soul?’ â€
