Letter from China: Q. & A. with Rebecca MacKinnon: Internet in China
has some interesting thoughts about how other countries can help the Chinese improve their internet freedom.

I’d very much like to see a checklist which looked at the list of freedoms requested and how well western countries comply with them. This is not to minimise the need to tear down the various “great firewalls”, but just a caution that things need to be rosy and clear on our side before we can make demands of others.

Thanks to kk for the link: it has taken a while to get to read.
