In the middle of some excellent chart unjunking comes some slightly surprising data: iPhones have a substantially higher market share than any competitor in the over 55s. The same is true for Android in the under 25s.
Not earth shattering, but not what I would have predicted. I would have thought that the iPhone / Apple “do it our way” lockdown would have worked well across the board.
Mm. The Young don’t want to be dictated to as openly as Apple does, perhaps; and the over-55s may feel that Apple’s restrictions are bearable in the grand scheme of things. For people supporting elderly parents and their own children, frex, life is too short to fret about smartphone perfection.
