Wow, how do you stitch that one together in your psyche?
We are sure that the vast majority of the general public will share in our abject horror at the Vatican’s decision to categorise the ordination of women as an ‘offence’ in the same category as paedophilia – deemed to be one of the ‘gravest offences a priest can commit’.
Patriarchy is everywhere, Tom. Women are unclean. We also can’t be scientists, by the way, it’s not only religious wingbats who reckon we’re just meatsocks/incubators/milch animals with uppity, unnatural aspirations.
Hierarchies, eh? if you’re female, you can’t beat ’em and you can’t join ’em, either.
never mind being difficult to be catholic: all the more extraordinary that such an evil organisation is at “best” tolerated. .. there should be a serious move to irraddicate its ofious views, evil intent, ways, and organisation from the planet !
I guess I’m lucky (blinkered?) not to observe that among my friends. Lots of female bread winners, even a few scientists.
I mean, Marie Curie was a real long time ago now.
Viva la sisterhood!
I’m reasonably OK with some of the ethical thinking in Catholicism, and don’t see it as an irreparably evil institution. However, does it need reform and rethinking? Yes, indeedy.
