Saw the Tenby lifeboat being launched last night (only a test thankfully) and was almost as excited as my nephew. Sirens, smoke, huge engine, quick release, splash. Brilliant.
Really astonishing that the RNLI is all funded by donations; £3m for Tenby came from a bequest from a Kettering farmer!
I love that ramp the Tenby lifeboat goes down to launch. I’ve only seen the video, which looks awesome.
By coincidence, I saw the Aldeburgh lifeboat launch, do drills and come back in. An altogether more sedate affair, although the lifeboat beaches itself and is then dragged up the pebbly beach by a 19 tonne tractor before being loaded onto its trailer.
By coincidence… I mean I saw it this morning!
That’s just genius. Nothing wrong with synchronicity.
