I didn’t see this when it was being done. Here’s the details on how it was done. Who’d have thought Eric Whitacre was movie star like? Not a bad attempt at virtual singing by more than 100 people (only one in the UK, I think). The main issue for me was consonants, but then it has taken a while to educate Pegasus about them…
Eric Whitacre’s Virtual Choir – ‘Lux Aurumque’
How amazing!
I haven’t yet looked at the “how we did it” bit. I shall read with interest to see how they got around such choral challenges such as “who hasn’t yet volunteed to make the tea”, how they decided on whether open-toed shoes are acceptable when performing and whether or not reading a magazine during rehearsal sets a bad example to other singers.
Clothes: I would guarantee someone did it with no clothes on, as they are self-generated head shots.
Tea: it is always your fault in this case.
Magazines: I think anything is OK so long as it is off camera.
